Cove Park (Kihei) is great for beginners! A small beach with shallow water, the waves are consistent but it might be crowded.
Launiupoko Beach is great for those with experience! A local spot with lots of shade, showers, restrooms, picnic tables and BBQs. Lots of consistent waves with shallow reef. Surf can get big in the summer. Just a few miles before Lahaina Town.
Kanaha Beach is local spot for windsurfing, kiteboarding, SUP, surfing & fishing. It's not your typical tourist spot. Located just outside of Kahului Town near the airport.
Makena Bay - Early mornings are best for good parking & a calm bay that is great kayaking for beginners & advanced paddlers. Beautiful coastline views & great water visibility. Excellent chance to spot Honus & Manta Rays. You might even see a Hawaiian Monk Seal!
Olowalu Beach - Enjoy paddling over a fascinating coral head! Bring your snorkel & mask to enjoy the underwater sights. Expect to see Honu & possibly the Hawaiian Monk Seal that lives in the area.
Kama’ole Beach Park II - Easy access to the water from a short walk from the parking lot. Great to paddle to the north or to the right from the beach, let the wind take you back to your launch spot. Enjoy a scenic paddle along the coast with many Honu to be seen.
If you are staying at an ocean front condo in Kihei / Wailea all spots in front of your condo are generally great for kayaking! Be sure to paddle north or to the right & let the trade winds help you back to your beach.
