Honolua Bay - Take a short forest path to the rocky beach (no sand) & listen to the music of local chickens! Great for snorkeling when the water is clear & calm. Both sides of the bay have established coral reefs with abundant marine life. Expect to see butterflyfish, yellow tang & the occasional manta ray or octopus!
Makena Landing - the parking lot fills up fast so be sure to get there early! Leisurely snorkel to the north or to the right of the beach will take you to Turtle Town. Expect to see Honus! You may even see dolphins or manta rays.
Olowalu Beach - Park right by the beach & bring your snorkel & mask to enjoy the underwater sights. Expect to see Honu & possibly the monk seal that lives in the area.
Kama'ole Beach II - Easy access to the water from a short walk from the parking lot. Enjoy a scenic swim along the coast with many tropical fish & honu to be seen.
If you are staying at an ocean front condo in Kihei / Wailea all spots in front of your condo are excellent! Be sure to paddle north or to the right & let the trade winds help you back to your beach.
Kapalua Bay - Calm water makes this a perfect places for beginner snorkeling. An ideal spot to take the kids. The center of the bay is sandy so the water will be slightly cloudy, especially if it’s windy. Go to the north end of the beach & snorkel along the rocky edge for greater water visibility & more fish. Expect to see lots of tropical fish!
