Cove Park (Kihei)
The Vibe: The ultimate South Maui spot for first-timers! Featuring shallow water, a sandy launch, and mellow, consistent waves.
Local Tip: It’s the perfect place to learn on a soft-top, but it gets crowded. Paddle out early to beat the rush and the afternoon trade winds.
Launiupoko Beach is great for those with a little experience! A local spot with nice consistent waves. Just a few miles before Lahaina Town.
Kanaha Beach, a local spot for windsurfing, kiteboarding, SUP, surfing & fishing. It's not your typical tourist spot. Located just outside of Kahului Town near the airport.
Thousand Peaks / Ukumehame (West Maui)
The Vibe: Just like the name implies, this scenic stretch of coastline offers countless peaks! It’s a fantastic, spacious spot for longboarders to spread out and cruise.
Local Tip: The reef is shallow here, so booties are a good idea if you are still learning how to dismount your board.
Honolua Bay (West Maui) - *Advanced and Expert Surfers
The Vibe: A world-renowned right point break. During winter north swells, it offers some of the longest, most hollow, and legendary rides on the island.
Local Tip: Strictly for advanced surfers during the winter. However, when the ocean is completely flat in the summer, it transforms into an epic, calm snorkeling spot!
Ho'okipa Beach Park (North Shore) - *Advanced Expert Surfers
The Vibe: The crown jewel of Maui's North Shore. Known for world-class winter swells, powerful currents, and a shallow, unforgiving reef.
Local Tip: Leave this break to the local experts and pros. If you aren't an advanced surfer, grab a spot on the bluff—it is one of the best places on the island to watch high-performance surfing!
