Maui Ocean Safety Tips

Maui is home to gorgeous beaches, tropical forests and endemic Hawaiian wildlife & marine life.... As you explore and enjoy Maui it's important to respect the ocean, land, people & diverse culture. It's good to "talk story" and inquire with locals about questionable ocean conditions and Maui ocean safety. 

There is a saying in Hawaii: "Never turn your back on the ocean." If you're not paying attention, Maui's big waves, strong winds, and currents can put you in harm's way. Always swim when a lifeguard is on duty and be aware of conditions before going in the water. If in doubt, don't go out.
